Les Crosets, the heart of the estate

At an altitude of 1,670 m, the village of Les Crosets is literally the hub of the Portes du Soleil. The chairlift takes you in four directions: Champéry and Champoussin on the Swiss side, Morgins via the upper slopes, and Avoriaz, Châtel and Morzine on the French side. It all starts here. Everything comes back to that.

Electric mountain biking in Les Crosets facing the Dents du Midi

Four directions, one starting point…

From Chalet Montriond in Les Crosets, two chairlifts (Crosets and Mossettes) provide access to almost the entire mountain-biking area. In just a few minutes, you’ll be on the Champéry side for the bike park trails, on the Champoussin side for the mountain pastures, on the Morgins side for Châtel – or on the Avoriaz side for riding in France and back down to Morzine.

For electric mountain bikes, it’s the perfect base. You set off again with full batteries, without having to push on the last hill. And in between, more than 50 free recharging points are dotted around the mountain pastures and resort villages.

Above it all: the jagged silhouette of the Dents du Midi, rising to 3,257 m. You can hardly take your eyes off them.

– 01 / Centrality

Six destinations, one departure. From Les Crosets, you can reach Champéry, Champoussin, Morgins, Avoriaz, Châtel and Morzine without a shuttle bus. Everything is connected, everything is bikeable.

– 02 / Panorama

The Dents du Midi around every bend. The emblematic massif of the Lower Valais hardly ever leaves your side. It’s a setting that makes all the difference on every outing.

– 03 / Refill

More than 50 terminals on the estate. Free recharging stations in mountain pastures, resort villages and refreshment stands. Meal break = full battery to get going again.

Four loops – departure from Chalet Montriond

Here are four emblematic loops, all of which start at Le Chalet – most of which can be ridden on electric, classic or gravel mountain bikes, depending on your level and desires, and we still have some twenty other routes to offer….

– The spirit of the estate

Six tips for a successful first outing

01 – Rent your bike at Chalet Montriond

No need to look for a rental company in the village. You can book your bike, mountain bike or Gravel directly at Chalet Montriond – for the day, the stay, or even direct departure. Recent equipment, advice on itineraries included, sauna after exercise.

02 – Pass des Dents du Midi

If you’re staying further afield, your accommodation provider will give you a free Illiez card. It gives 10% discount on mountain bike hire and access to many local activities. The Multipass gives access to the entire Portes du Soleil infrastructure in Switzerland and France.

03 – Anticipate border crossings

The lifts are managed by two companies (PdS Suisse SA and françaises). The Portes du Soleil all-inclusive package gives access to all of them – so don’t take a Swiss sectorial if you’re planning to switch to Avoriaz, Châtel or Morzine.

04 – More than 50 charging stations on the estate

You’ll never have to worry about your battery. Look out for those on your route: a picnic break in the Alps often means a free refill at the local bar.

05 – Helmets are non-negotiable

Ideal for downhill riding. Gloves, knee pads and elbow pads are highly recommended on the bikepark’s red and black trails, especially on the Avoriaz and Châtel sides.

06 – Mountain weather, no beach

Windbreaker and waterproof jacket are compulsory in the bag, even in bright sunshine. At 2,200 m on the Croix de Culet, the weather turns in fifteen minutes.

📅 Good to know – Summer 2026

The main lifts in the Swiss sector operate continuously during the high season. Weather conditions permitting.

  • Champéry cable car: June 26 → August 30
  • Crosets chairlift: June 26 → August 30
  • Mossettes chairlift: June 26 → August 30
  • Morgins gondola lift: 1ᵉʳ Jul. → August 30
  • Pass’Portes MTB: June 26 → 28, 2026
