THEY TRUST US

What parents and teens say

★★★★★

“My 14-year-old daughter came back transformed. She used to be scared of descents and now rides red trails without flinching. The coach gave her confidence without pushing her. And the organisation was impeccable, we got news every day.”

TO REPLACE · Mum of a 14-year-old participant

★★★★★

“The camp was awesome! The coaches are cool, the trails massive, and the Thursday Wild BBQ Night was epic. I made mates I’m still in touch with. I’m coming back next year.”

TO REPLACE · 16-year-old participant

★★★★★

“We hesitated to let our 12-year-old son go for a whole week. The team really reassured us beforehand (video call + clear paperwork), and we felt the rigour of the setup from arrival. Top-notch ESV pedagogy, true Swiss quality.”

TO REPLACE · Parents of a 12-year-old participant

★★★★★

“The chalet is gorgeous, the food great (and plentiful!), and the DH coaching by the ESV instructors is the real deal. Our teen progressed enormously in one week. We recommend it 200%.”

FAQ FOR PARENTS

All the answers to your questions

Required level, bike rental, safety, accommodation, contact during the stay: we've gathered the questions you ask us most.

What is the age requirement to participate?

The camp is open to young people aged 12 to 17. Groups are formed by level and age range so each teen rides with compatible peers.

For under 12s, contact us: depending on the young rider’s MTB profile, tailor-made solutions may be considered.

What MTB level is required to participate?

The camp is aimed at confirmed beginners and intermediate/advanced levels. You need to be able to hold the bike, brake, take simple corners and have already ridden MTB downhill (green or blue trail).

Absolute beginners should first prioritise our weekend MTB course before signing up for the DH camp. ESV coaches will assess the level during the first session and adapt the group’s programme accordingly.

Does my teen need their own MTB?

Ideally yes — a Downhill or Enduro MTB in good condition is ideal. Knowing your bike is a real plus.

If you don’t own a suitable MTB, rental is available from partner shops in Les Crosets or Champéry. Mention it at pre-registration, we’ll put you in touch and negotiate a preferential rate.

What protective equipment is mandatory?

Mandatory and non-negotiable equipment:

Full-face helmet — no half-shell helmet
Knee pads and elbow pads
Long-finger MTB gloves
Goggles or mask

Strongly recommended: back protector, neck brace, reinforced long trousers. A teen without complete equipment will not be allowed to ride — for their safety first and foremost.

How are the rooms organised?

Teens stay at Chalet Montriond in shared rooms (2 to 4 beds depending on setup). Room assignments are made by age and affinity on arrival, under adult supervision.

All rooms have a private bathroom, made beds, and a balcony with a view of the Dents du Midi. Towels and bedding provided.

How are meals organised?

Full board for the 6 days:

• Generous buffet breakfast
Picnic at lunch (packed lunch or hot meal depending on the area)
Snack at 4:30pm
Dinner at 7:30pm at the chalet

Balanced cuisine suited to sport, local Valaisan produce, care taken for young riders (no fancy dishes). Special diets (vegetarian, allergies, gluten-free, etc.) to be declared at registration: we adapt.

How many teens in a coaching group?

Coaching groups are made up of a maximum of 6 to 8 teens per coach, with a level-based split so progress stays even and coaching is individualised.

In total, the camp hosts between 20 and 30 teens per session, with a proportionate supervision team (ESV coaches + Chalet Montriond adults).

Can I contact my teen during the stay?

Yes — teens keep their phones and can reach you in the evening (not during ride sessions, for safety and focus).

A parent contact is reachable by families throughout the camp for any urgent question. We can also send daily photos / updates of the group on request.

What happens in bad weather?

The camp runs in July-August: the weather is generally favourable. In case of occasional showers, we keep riding (trails dry quickly in the mountains).

How do registration and payment work?

Everything is handled by our partner the Swiss MTB School via their online shop:

1. Choose the session on the dates grid
2. Click on “Pre-register” — you land on the ESV site
3. Complete the form (teen info, equipment, diet, health)
4. Confirm payment
5. ESV sends you a confirmation with all practical details

Cancellation terms, insurance and parental authorisation: see directly on the ESV website. Go to the ESV shop →
